LEGAL NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Elmore County has submitted to DEQ the final Groundwater Monitoring Plan for the Bennett Road Landfill facility. Groundwater monitoring wells will be installed to monitor for any groundwater contamination for the life of the landfill. The Groundwater Monitoring Plan describes the number, location, and depth of the proposed wells as well as the plan for sampling the groundwater over time. This public notice is made pursuant to Idaho Code 39-7411(6), and as determined in Section 31-819 of Idaho Code. This plan may be reviewed at Bennett Road Landfill, 6100 SE County Landfill Rd, Mountain Home, ID 83647 and online at https://elmorecounty.org/, Public Notices. Office hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, except holidays. The public is invited to comment on this Bennett Road Landfill facility preliminary Groundwater Monitoring Plan. The 28-day comment period commences with the first publication of this announcement on 10/23/2024. Located at Old Oregon Trail Road, just off Exit 99 on Interstate 84

Hours of Operation: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. – Monday through Saturday
* Closed on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

County residents will no longer be charged for each trip for items such as couches, mattresses, etc. Your first 2000 pounds of Household Waste is FREE for the calendar year, after that residents will be charged $20.00 per ton, or a $5.00 minimum charge.

Yard waste, tree limbs, and leaves are always FREE, but please separate the yard waste from your household waste. Please do not use plastic bags for yard waste. If you bag it, please use paper bags, or remove the plastic bags when you dump.

Please Note:

  • All loads need to be covered between home and transfer station/landfill to limit the loss of garbage during transport
  • Anyone caught dumping in the desert may be fined and/or face imprisonment
  • All fees are due at time of delivery to the transfer station; only the Elmore County Board of Commissioners can reduce or waive fees.
  • Waste from Commercial Contractors is now accepted.
  • TIRE FEES:
    • Without a rim- $3.00 each 
    • With a rim- $4.00 each
  • CONSTRUCTION WASTE INSTRUCTIONS:
    • Must be cut to 8 ft in length or shorter
  • We DO NOT accept any Hazardous Waste.
  • We DO NOT accept dead livestock or other dead large animals

Glenns Ferry Landfill

Hours – 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun (Closed Mon, Tue)

Household Trash Only – No Commercial or Construction Waste

Refrigerators / freezers must be taken to the Transfer Station in Mountain Home. There is a $25.00 fee for Freon disposal.

Tires are no longer accepted.

There is a separate spot in the landfill for yard waste.

Pine Transfer Station

Construction waste dumping at the county waste transfer facility in Pine is not allowed.  Construction waste shall only be disposed at approved locations.”
