UI Extension, Elmore County’s mission is to enhance the quality of life in Elmore County through education, application of knowledge and the development of leadership skills. Our goal is to provide our community with research-based information focusing on three areas; agriculture, 4-H youth development, and family & consumer sciences.
The Extension office provides professional, expert focus and recommendations on agricultural topics such as crop productions, plant variety selection, plant diseases, fertilization and irrigation management, and pest control. Our Educator can provide practical scientific methods to help restore soil by using organic matter thereby improving production while conserving resources. Crop consultation and on-farm field surveys may also be conducted using current technical information from the University of Idaho.
For additional information; visit the University of Idaho Extension, Elmore County page.
Additional services the Extension office provide are; rangeland and ranching consultation, assistance with soil testing and sample collection, as well as insect and plant identification. We are also able answer general gardening and landscaping questions, in addition to other agricultural related topics. In early 2019 the county will reintroduce its Master Gardener Program.
